31st birthday- a short reflection

Craft

I'm grateful for landing a well-paying day job- while it is not quite what I had expected (many 'alignment' meetings, less building), I'm still grateful that the technical side of the work is interesting. There are always things to improve on- more freedom, less commute, and hopefully a remote and async first culture. For now, I should stay in my current role for the stability and pay (of grinding for a property) while I explore my options in a startup.

On the startup side, there's always the question of whether I should go for something really ambitious or safer. I believe that B2B SaaS margins are getting compressed due to the ease of writing code. Thus, it will not be that safe bet that it used to be. In addition, I hope that the ease of implementing software will shift the attention to hardware. As of now, I'm really interested in applied AI in medicine/robotics.

Constitution

I'm really grateful for finally gaining mass. A year ago I felt that I was stuck at 57kg, now I'm 63kg. Doing higher reps, then eating slightly more were key.

One thing to improve on- probably learn a skill/get a new hobby? I find that my life has been rather dry nowadays- I want something that sparks joy, and not that I have to chase an end result.

Community

I'm really grateful for the family and friends in my life. I'm also super grateful to be able to donate more regularly to GiveDirectly.

Contemplation

This is easy- less phone browsing and more reading!

Celebration

I'm admittedly lacking in this. Let's plan for an adventure next year!
